1. About This Policy
Select ID Ltd., is incorporated in England and Wales, company number, collects your information (referred to as “Select ID”, “we”, “us”, “our” in this policy).
“You” and “your” means any individual whose personal data we process, including visitors to this website (“our site”), prospective and existing customers, business contacts and individuals interacting with services provided by Select ID including the Network (as defined below).

We are required by the UK GDPR, the Data protection Act 2018 and the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 (the “Data Protection Legislation”) to be fair and transparent with individuals about how their information will be managed and to inform them of their rights.
This privacy policy sets out how and why we use personal data and the rights individuals have to that personal data.

Select ID operates an orchestration network (the “Network”) which enables organisations requiring identity or attribute verification (“Relying Parties”) to access identity and verification services provided by participating identity service providers (“IdPs”).
Our role under data protection law depends on the particular processing activity we undertake.
For certain activities carried out through the Network, Select ID acts as a data processor on behalf of a Relying Party or IdP and processes personal data in accordance with that organisation's instructions. This may include transaction processing, billing and reconciliation, crash analysis, certain service monitoring activities and the operation of hosted, self-service, identity provider selection and invitation functionality.
Where Select ID acts as a processor, the relevant RP or IdP is responsible for determining the purposes and lawful basis for that processing and for providing appropriate privacy information to the individual.
Select ID also acts as an independent data controller for certain processing where Select ID determines the purposes for which personal data is used. In particular, we may process certain audit, operational, technical and transaction-related information generated or received through the Network for purposes including monitoring and analysing the performance and effective operation of the Network across participating Relying Parties and IdPs and identifying opportunities to maintain and improve the Network.
The information processed by Select ID as an independent controller for these purposes is primarily audit, technical, operational and pseudonymised transaction information rather than the underlying identity information exchanged between an IdP and an RP.
Where Select ID processes personal data as an independent controller, that processing is governed by this privacy policy.
This privacy policy provides information on how we use personal data relating to our prospective and existing customers, our partners and other individuals we do business with (also referred to in this notice as ‘you’), including:

2. How is your personal data collected?
We may collect and process the following data about you (including without limitation):
Identity data: first and last name
Contact data: home address, email address, telephone numbers, postal address where applicable
Technical Data: includes internet protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform, device ID and other technology on the devices you use to access our site
Transaction Performance Data: includes requests made by RPs, user choice of IdPs and results of ID confirmations from IdPs of the Select ID Network
We also collect, use and share aggregated data such as statistical or demographic data which is not personal data as it does not directly (or indirectly) reveal your identity.
2.1 Information that you give us
YYou may give us your Identity and Contact Data either face to face or by filling in forms or by corresponding with us by post, phone, email or otherwise.
This includes information you provide when you contact us via our site, book for Select ID events, post material, request further services, request marketing to be sent to you, and when you report a problem with our site.
If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence. We may also ask you to complete surveys that we use for research purposes, although you do not have to respond to them.
2.2 Information we collect about you
As Select ID operates primarily on a business-to-business basis, your personal data may be provided to us by your employer as an Authorised User for an activity related to requesting and managing ID confirmations.
Where you interact with or use services provided through the Network, or where a transaction relating to you is carried out through the Network, we may receive personal data about you from Relying Parties and IdPs as a result of transactions performed between those organisations through the Network. We may also generate audit, transaction, technical and operational information in the course of operating the Network.

Where we obtain your personal data from another source, we will provide the information required by applicable data protection law unless an exception applies.
Automated technologies or interactions
As you interact with our site or our services, we will automatically collect Technical Data about your equipment, browsing actions and patterns. We collect this personal data by using cookies, server logs and other similar technologies. 3. How We Use Your Data
We may use information held about you (information that you give to us, information we collect about you and information we receive from other sources) in the following ways:

for transaction performance analysis: to analyse audit, transaction and technical information received or generated in connection with transactions carried out through the Network for the purpose of service operation, security, troubleshooting, network, performance, interoperability, product and service improvement.
Where reasonably possible, Select ID uses pseudonymised or aggregated information for transaction performance monitoring and analysis in order to minimise the amount of identifiable personal data used.

We consider the nature of the information, the reasonable expectations of the individuals concerned and the potential impact on their rights and freedoms before relying on legitimate interests.
Consent
Where we rely on consent, including for certain electronic marketing communications or cookies, you may withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew consent.
We will also comply with the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 and other applicable rules governing electronic communications and direct marketing.
Legal Obligation
Select ID processes personal data which is necessary to comply with its legal obligations. This may include processing necessary to comply with requirements imposed by regulators, courts, law enforcement authorities or other public bodies.
Performance of contract
We process your personal data where it is necessary for us to perform a contract with you, including fulfilling our obligations under any service you have with us (or to take steps at your request before entering into such a contract).
5. Ways In Which We May Contact You
Select ID may contact you by post, telephone (including by text message where applicable) or email in connection with the purposes outlined above.
Marketing preferences are dealt with separately in section 8. You cannot opt out of communications that are necessary to administer a service, fulfil a contract or legal obligation, or address security or operational matters.
6. Storage of Your Personal Data
We have in place appropriate technical and organisational measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. We also maintain appropriate internal policies and procedures for all personal data to ensure it is handled securely from the point of data collection through to the point of destruction.
The personal data that we collect from you is hosted and stored by our main information systems at sites that are located within the United Kingdom and accessed by Select ID employees, agents, contractors and suppliers in the United Kingdom.
Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal data transmitted to our site; any transmission is at your own risk.
You acknowledge that any personal data that you submit for publication through our site or services may become publicly available, via the internet, and may be accessed worldwide. We cannot prevent the use (or misuse) of such personal data that you choose to make publicly available.
7. Disclosure of Your Data
We share your information with third-party service providers, where necessary for them to provide services on our behalf or in order to enable us to achieve the objective of our processing. The service providers include:

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not share your personal data with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.
8. Marketing
Third-party marketing
We will get your express consent before we share your personal data with any third party for their own direct marketing purposes.
Opting out of marketing
You can ask us to stop sending you marketing communications at any time by following the opt-out links within any marketing communication sent to you or by contacting us using the Contact form on our site.
If you opt out of receiving marketing communications, you will still receive service-related communications that are essential for administrative or customer service purposes (for example relating to event confirmations, appointment reminders, updates to our Terms and Conditions, checking that your contact details are correct).
9. Data Security
We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to your personal data to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know. They will only process your personal data on our instructions, and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.
We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach where we are legally required to do so.
10. Retention of Personal Data
We will retain your details for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, human resources, or reporting requirements. We may retain your personal data for a longer period in the event of a complaint or if we reasonably believe there is a prospect of litigation in respect to our relationship with you.
To determine the appropriate retention period for personal data, we consider the amount, nature and sensitivity of the personal data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorised use or disclosure of your personal data, the purposes for which we process your personal data and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and the applicable legal, regulatory, tax, accounting or other requirements.

Under the Data Protection Legislation, you have a number of rights to your personal data. These rights are qualified (meaning you may not have these rights at all times, or in all circumstances), but generally speaking, individual’s rights include:

Withdraw consent at any time where we are relying on consent to process your personal data. However, this will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdraw your consent. If you withdraw your consent, we may not be able to provide certain products or services to you. We will advise you if this is the case at the time you withdraw your consent
